This quick little guide can help determine what plants will work in your garden. 

Fell free to mix n' match the different types to change your garden yearly. 

Perennials

Planting 

  • Used to fill gaps for ground cover

  • Can decorate dry landscapes

  • Can create a natural-looking effect

  •  Assess the site and soil to select those who work best

Needs

  • When making a border, plant assign to the size and stature of plant

  • Plant in optimal conditions, only water for 1 season after planting 

  • Fertilize with all-purpose granular fertilizer annually in spring

  • Use organic matter mulch

  • Little maintenance required

Wall Climbers

Use space efficiently

Introducing 

  • Leafy screens can become a hedge

  • Can decorate structures

  • Adds easy height to container displays

Selecting

  • Types:

  • Aerial roots are self-clinging to surfaces

  • Hooks can latch onto taller plants

  • Adhesive pads can stick to plants 

  • Twining stems thread through the host plant

  • Needs extra water while establishing or dry spells

  • In spring, apply organic matter around stems

Bamboos & Grasses

  • Injects color and form

  • Providing textural container displays

  • Creating living screens and hedges

Focus on 

  • Multiple sizes

  • Aquatics root on the bottom 

  • Oxygenators provide oxygen and absorb nutrients
